Health and Safety

  • Is it normal to see variation in the color of each strip?

Yes! The color variation of the strips is due to the natural smoking process of the meat and where it sits in the smoker. We don’t use coloring additives to make each strip look exactly the same, so differences in appearance are normal.

  • I’ve noticed a liquid or white film in the package with my strip, what is that?

What you’re seeing is the natural fats that have been left in the meats that provide natural fuel for your dog. At certain temperatures, fat may appear as liquid or a white film on the strip. Not only is the fat healthy and safe to eat, it provides an optimal source of energy.

  • If these snacks are human-grade, can I eat them?

Can you? Absolutely! But regulatory laws in the pet industry require us to tell you that you shouldn’t. If by chance you tear open a strip and are hypnotized by the savory smell of hickory wood smoked meat, well just remember to save some for your pup.

  • How long can these strips stay out of refrigeration after opening?

The USDA states that cooked meat can be left at room temperature for up to 2 hours. Discard any opened product left un-refrigerated for more than 2 hours.

  • What is the shelf life of a snack strip?

Our natural preservatives and unique packaging allow strips to remain fresh for at least 18 months after smoking. Once opened, we advise refrigerating any unused portion as you would any meat product.

  • Can this snack be fed to cats?

As natural carnivores, cats will love the moist meaty texture of kitchen table meat strips. We advise tearing the strip into small pieces to avoid choking and to always have fresh water nearby. Keep your cat’s dietary needs in mind and do not feed as a meal replacement.

Nutrition and Ingredients

  • What does 100% human-grade really mean?

100% human-grade means that both the ingredients and the processes involved in creating a product meet or exceed human food standards. It’s important to recognize that some products may state that ingredients are human grade, but that does not mean that all ingredients or the processes and facilities used to make them are held to human standards. USDA-inspectors monitor the smokehouse in which all of our products are made.

  • What makes a snack different than a treat?

While treats are traditionally known for being indulgent and full of fillers and empty calories, a snack contains purposeful nutrition that provides energy between meals.

In Our Community

  • Where are your products made?

We make our strips at a locally owned and operated in a USDA inspected smokehouse in Missouri where farmers and producers from the area have been bringing their business for years. In addition to these snack strips, our smokehouse makes all kinds of human food. There are neighbors and families at our facility every day purchasing meat for their families.

  • Why can't I find your snacks in big-box retailers?

We believe in partnering with all those local, independent pet stores along Main Street. The ones who make a living caring for the pets in your neighborhood. This is why you will only find our products on their shelves and not in big-box retailers. It’s our way to give back to the many communities across the country that care so deeply for the well-being of our pets.
